Making a Statement to Viewers With the Designs On Your Billboard

by | Jul 9, 2019 | Advertising

In order to reach more people for your business, you can design a billboard that highlights one or two of the details pertaining to your company. Your billboard should be bold while using text that is easy to see from a distance. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when creating billboards in Oklahoma to increase the traffic to your business in an easy manner.

Basics of the Design

The best way to design a billboard is to keep the concept as simple as possible. There shouldn’t be a lot of words. Large images and a few words are often the best way to reach more people since most billboards are seen by individuals who are driving. Try to use less than seven words on the board and no punctuation if possible. The message should be able to be read in less than 10 seconds, which means that you need to come up with something short and to the point that at the same time conveys what your business offers.

Color Contrast

Consider using contrasting colors. Avoid using anything that is too bright as the sun could reflect off of it and make the board difficult to look at while driving. Possible color combinations include black or blue and a yellow background. Although it seems like it would be a good option for a billboard, try to avoid white because it’s highly reflective.

Simple Pictures

Limit images on billboards in Oklahoma to about one or two. A few carefully chosen pictures can make a bigger impact than an assortment of smaller images that may appear too busy or cluttered. While blank space is often an effective design choice on smaller printed materials, when it comes to billboards, you want to try to utilize all of the space available. For example, you can use the empty space to enhance the font on the board so that it’s easier to see.
